Thanks jas. I understand the conflicted feelings right now. But everyone knows that an existing team will have to move to Seattle becuz the NBA has no expansion teams to grant.

I have posted at SuperSonic Soul as " Pookeyguru" so I'm sure thats what you are thinking of.

Sonics fan here (I think I’ve encountered you over at Supersonicsoul a few times a while back). Ever since our old team left I’ve been dreading the prospect of us stealing another city’s team—the fact that that was the only way we could get a team back was like the final, nasty twist of the knife that Stern stuck into us.
It didn’t seem to matter much until recently. Now with this arena talk, it’s becoming more of a real possibility. That talk about the Kings in the paper today made me sick. I don’t want them or any other town’s team. But if an arena happens I assume some team will move here. It could be like a strange, bizzaro version of the Sonics leaving—summoning up the old feelings of helplessness and existential angst.

Best wishes to Sacramento in getting it done.

[...] Last September, I felt like a financing source or two would drop and that the city of Sacramento would have to use a plan B. Maybe I’m wrong on that point. Maybe it’s more like that the NBA feels like, and I certainly feel this is true regardless of what’s been announced publicly or elsewhere, it won’t have to contribute a signficant financial chunk to get a new arena done. Kevin Johnson has already sold this publicly as a public-private partnership, and the sense that it would be more than the Maloofs-and an arena operator like AEG would have to contribute.
Hi Nate. Good read. Personally, I've had concerns about Tyreke for a while now. For me, it's his personality in general, including his bizarre, almost robotic lack of emotion. The dude hardly ever shows any emotion one way or the other. He just seems to lack competitive fire and one of the manifestations of that is the apparent lack of a desire to improve and maximize his skills. It's not like his weaknesses are a secret or anything, yet he's done little to nothing in terms of shoring up the holes in his game and looking to improve. Why not? Is he surrounded by ass kissing sycophants who just tell him how great he is? Does he lack the ability for inner reflection? Both? I don't know. He just seems "off" to me and doesn't appear to understand the game in many ways. I know he's young and is only in his 3rd season, but i'm just not seeing the growth, or worse, the will/desire to grow, or worse still, not even recognizing that he needs to improve/grow.

In sports, we've all heard the line or something to the effect of "he does the things that don't show up in the box score". Tyreke's problem is the exact opposite: for the most part he only does the things that show up in the box score. Can the dude figure it out? I suppose, but I have my doubts.

Take care.

I wish I could give this comment a gold star. Well said.

For me the problem is that Evans is a 1st banana talent with a 2nd banana attitude. Cousins is a 2nd banana talent with a 1st banana attitude. So even if Smart solves the real problems plaguing this group right now, the long term dynamic of these two is another issue. How does one fix that? There isn't an easy fix and unfortunately we are left to follow a franchise that cant handle this dynamic based on early results so far.

This is frustrating to say the least.

I think at some point, it has to be taken into account (by the franchise) that Tyreke, gifted as he is physically, might not be the player they assumed.

Again, that doesn't take away from the ability he has - which is good - but you need more than just physical gifts at this level. Despite his injury issues of last year, Evan's should show far more progression from the mental standpoint than he has. There's no doubt, given his natural ability, he would be an absolute beast if/when he ever learns the game. For the Kings though, how long do you wait on that risk? There's a very good chance he eventually does come to realize the mental aspect of the game - but there's just as solid a chance he doesn't.

It's a tough situation.

Hey KF: That's my first "You're a fucking idiot and do you watch the game" comment in nearly 3 years so I'm not sure whether to be upset that I was small potatoes for so long that nobody cared if I wrote something like this or should be encouraged that more folks will be pissed at something I wrote for years to come. A double edged sword for sure....

You make good points KF and I noticed many of those as well. It's just again the overriding theme to me is that this team is more interested in implementing an AAU style rather than run a NBA style offense. My concern, and I don't think it's anywhere near unfounded, is that wins against San Antonio will continue the poor behavior that leads to big losses rather than help facilitate behavorial change that will lead to real growth as NBA players.

Either way, it is what it is. Criticism will always come from writing pieces like this. Don't write a piece like that, in my opinion, if you aren't ready for the criticism.
