Jason Levien and Wayne Cooper attend player workouts in Santa Monica

Via Kings Connect (Kings blog), it was mentioned that the aforementioned Levien and Cooper were watching players work out in Santa Monica. The names mentioned (Wayne Ellington of UNC, Gerald Henderson (Duke), and James Johnson (Wake Forest) ) don’t greatly entice me in terms of where the Kings need, and what not.

However, doing all the homework they can on players now doesn’t mean they can’t make a play for the future if they see what they like in how a player develops down the road on a NBA team.

As Geoff Petrie said, you do all the work, so that on draft day you know whom you would like. I would like to believe that’s the case. But, I don’t think doing homework when players come near your backyard is bad policy either.

In other news, this probably doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. On the other hand, the fact that they’re still looking at these players means something. I just don’t think I know what.
