Kings get smacked on the beak by the Magic

Box Score. 4 Factors:

Pace Eff eFG FT/FG OREB% TOr
Sacramento 101.0 83.2 35.5% 19.4 27.1 13.9
Orlando 99.0 48.0% 39.2 20.0 22.8

Now, it’s pretty simple. If you don’t make shots you won’t win. I don’t really care about the all other stuff because it applies.

I’ll do some research in the morning when I’m in a bit easier and jovial mood, but I’m going to chart the shots of Jason Thompson week by week up until now. (Actually not. Someone else can do that if they feel like it.) What it will show is that JT had a high quality 2 months, and has fallen off in January. It took Omri a bit longer to fall off than JT, but he too has fallen off this month.

As far as Kevin Martin’s poor shooting night, why should he be any different? To be honest, I’m amazed Kevin got 5 assists with a team shooting 33% on the night. (And that was with the 36 point 4th quarter on Orlando’s deep bench–to be fair a quality group in it’s own right–and what not.)

You’re simply not going to win if you score 17 points in the 2nd & 3rd quarter’s combined. No more analysis needed on that front. Here is PW talking about the game:

Very good points made by PW. I would highly suggest watching it. Ah, the trials and tribulations of a young team. (That is coming tomorrow.)

  1. it has been a bad game to watch (very bad), but it’s also true that you can’t hope to win when every shot you take (even open shots, layups) doesn’t go in.
Good to great shooters (KMart and Beno for example) were missing easy shots (damn, Howard was better at the free throw line than KMart by a lot), and we have not the talent right now to win when we don’t shoot well.

So let’s move to Miami and let’s hope our Babies can do something better tonight

    • As usual, well said Panz.

      • Thank you sir
