A quick thought on Cousins vs Favors

Looking at Favors numbers, versus Cousins, I found some interesting things about each player.

Favors has an USG% over 20 (20.5), a TS% of 61.1% and a DRB% of 20.5.

Here is a list of players who accomplished the feat last season in the NBA: Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum.

To be fair, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer and Pau Gasol were all very close to accomplishing the feat too. (And all 3 have during their careers.)

If you look at Cousins, and you look at Favors stats in those categories, Cousins easily qualifies in DRB% and USG%. But he falls a bit short in the TS% category. That is something to remember moving forward as people paint Favors as a project and Cousins as a more polished player.

Both can help the Kings, but the question is does what Cousins do help the Kings more than Favors, and vice versa?

Right now the consensus is that Cousins is dominant and would be the better player. But, I’m not so sure. It will be, as many have said, interesting to see what the interviews and workout’s show. Number crunching can only show so much.

Until next time then.
