Should the Kings go after Courtney Lee now?

With the Kings after a young SG who can shoot and play defense next to Tyreke Evans, why not Courtney Lee? Chad Ford mentions that the Nets are trying to do just this. (I know I know. But, still, it makes sense that the Nets would be looking to do this to free up space.) Currently Fromdeep of StR thinks this is a good idea. And, quite honestly, I can’t think of a good reason why it isn’t a good idea.

Lee would make 1.35 million dollars in salary next season. (Also an option for 2.22 million in 11-12.) In order to acquire him it would cost Kris Humpries who makes 3.2 million dollars next season and is an expiring contract.

Personally I’d do this. If it all it would cost is a protected 2nd rounder, I’d do this trade. I would even consider doing this before taking on Ronnie Brewer who wasn’t offered a Qualifying Offer by Memphis. Or attempting to sign an Anthony Morrow, Nate Robinson, Eddie House or any of those type of guys.

Courtney Lee is a perfect fit. He plays off the ball, can play D on both backcourt positions, and can shoot the ball from deep. (He didn’t last season but then again noone did for the Nets.) If this is the type of risk the Kings are looking for, it won’t get better than this.

The Kings should go after Courtney Lee. I’m not sayin, but I’m sayin…..
